2 Year Check-up

So we went to the pediatrician today; we didn't have to get shots :0)

J:
 31 pounds 4 ounces = 90th percentile
 36" - 3 FEET TALL!!! = 90th percentile

T:
 31 pounds 13 ounces = 95th percentile
 35" Tall = 75th percentile

The doctor said they should be saying 20 words and make 2 word phrases - HA!  That's hilarious!  No learning problems yet....in fact the kids showed off some of the sign language they have learned - doctor seemed impressed.  3 of the employees commented on how long it had been since we have had to go there or the ER (I can always stand a good pat on the back).  So, now we wait a whole year before we HAVE to go back - more than likely we'll be back there by the end of summer woth some sort of illness.

Back by popular demand

Well, it's been 2 months since I last blogged here.  I was under the impression no one really read this stuff, and I wasting my time....I was wrong.  I have at least one reader - my cousin Amanda.  So, HELLO AMANDA and anyone else who cares enough to pop in here.

The kids are so "energetic" - thank God they still don't drink sodas!  Hubby and I recently introduced them to the happy meal.  T can eat her whole cheeseburger and J's leftovers.  They love chicken nuggets and those terribly unhealthy fries.  I would feel guilty, but that's really the only "junk food" they eat.  They don't eat candy, cookies, or cakes, so I feel one cheesburger and small fry a week won't kill them.

We're slowly attempting potty-training; really, I'm focusing on J since he seems ready, and should be the harder kid to teach.  T sits on the potty some, but she's still not totally ready (or maybe she is and I'm too overwhelmed to notice).

J has all 20 of his teeth now; T has 17 teeth(maybe more by now).  J seems to favor his left hand for throwing balls, but he uses both to color; T switches hands too, but I think one of them may be a lefty.

They are using the following words to help mommy not lose her mind: "sorry", "please", yes/no", "love you", and the occasional "thank you."  They pick up and say tons of new words...everyday they say something...like naming an animal, and I'm totally shocked!  My mom must be teaching them a lot while I'm working.

I guess that's all for now...please leave a comment if you like.

And keep an eye out for a new album of photos soon.

He could be dead...who needs hot wheels?

Wow, I had a scary incident take place this afternoon.  My hubby and I both fell asleep for a nap; the volume was down on the tv so I could hear the kids.  I woke up 1 hour later and realized I didn't hear the kids...they hadn't made a peep.  I bust in their room, and they had gotten into the closet; their closet is a catch-all for "no-no's".  My hubby and I used to collect Hot Wheels and other 1/64 scale die-cast cars; we left them all in un-opened packages in a blue plastic tub in the closet of the nursery.

Of course the kids had got into the crayons, markers, stencils, coloring pages, cereal, and our damn hot wheels!  As I got closer to the closet I noticed some of the hot wheels were pulled out and the babies were in the tub with the remainder of hot wheels.  I jerked the kids out and got onto them for getting into the closet(which does have a lock)...and then I realized J (who is deathly allergic to peanuts) had been sitting, bare thigh on a jar of peanut butter!

All I could do was cry and hug him and thank God the jar was unopened - seal intact!  It was too close for me to handle; f*** the hot wheels - he could've died.  If that jar had been previously opened, or if he had opened it himself he would've had an anaphylactic reaction and died in that closet while I was asleep in the next room.

Don't take kids for granted - they are always a blessing (even when they eat your collectibles).

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

So, my hubby and I had the best Valentine's Day for us in years!  My mother-in-law started cooking Spaghetti Sauce Monday - I had no clue because she covered her tracks in the kitchen.  Anyway, last night at 8:00 (post American Idol-go Taylor Hicks) after the kids were asleep, she sat us down to our romantic dinner.  Candles, Flowers, Wine, 80's music, Spaghetti (my fave food), Lindor Truffles, and Chocolate Mousse with Strawberries for desert.  Rockin!

Since we rarely drink, the wine hit us fast and hard (as hard as bubbly wine can).  We went to bed early after some quiet time watching TV together.  Overall, it was the best night I can remember in years!  Hey, the kids slept all night too (I think); unless my husband got back up to take care of them, they must have slept till 6 am.  I actually got 8 hours of sleep I think.

I hope you all had good holidays yesterday too.  See you soon bloggers.
